Hachi the Octopus isn't at the top of the food chain, but that doesn't mean he's scared of humans. In fact, he's really curious about them! But he's also sick of the way they trash his home and concerned that their garbage has driven away his prey. Luckily, he meets Jonah, a local boy cleaning the beach with struggles of his own. When Jonah and Hachi figure out how to communicate, they set out to improve both their lives...and maybe even the world!

Help Hachi and Jonah save the beach they love ...one piece of trash at a time.

Theme: Game Jam for Climate Futures

Why did we develop this game? 🦈
We developed this game, because we wanted to approach the topic of climate futures in a fun way that would resonate with both kids and adults by telling the story of a friendship between a boy and an octopus, their shared desire to preserve the beach they both love, and their fight against pollution and the destruction of ecosystems. Our hope is that, by putting this fight in the hands of players, it will translate into them being moved to take action on behalf of the planet in the real world.

Some of the references we considered in our creative process:
Teresa: "Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a big reference for me in terms of the balance of gameplay vs cutscenes and how to handle dialogue. Also, the vibe of that game that is sweet and has you fighting monsters and whatnot. I wanted the story of this game to be sweet, but then Hachi has to fight a shark and an obnoxious teenager!"
